Behaviour change · Mental health · Positive psychology
Psychological therapy, with someone who has done this a long time.
I am John Wills — a BABCP-accredited CBT practitioner with over sixteen years in NHS adult mental health services. I see people in Dunfermline, and by telephone or video call.
Therapies I work with
We agree a plan that suits you and your needs from the start. In practice that usually means drawing on more than one of these.
CBT
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy — practical work on the thoughts and behaviours that keep a problem going.
IPT
Interpersonal Psychotherapy — focused on relationships, roles and life transitions, and how they affect mood.
Motivational Interviewing
A collaborative way of working through ambivalence when part of you wants to change and part of you does not.
Compassion Focused Therapy
Useful where self-criticism, shame or a harsh inner voice is doing much of the damage.
Clinical Hypnosis
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy, used alongside the above where it helps — particularly with habits and performance.
Positive psychology
Not only fixing what is wrong: building motivation, mind-set and the things that make life go better.
